ARCHAIC POP STUFF
Ethno Funk

As exemplified on their recent recordings human touch, the Cologne-based trio ARCHAIC POP STUFF presents a music that ranges from pure groove to sonic paintings and is both catchy and danceable.
The original compositions draw upon the tension between electric jazz, chamber music and classical Indian tabla rhythms. In a very unique way, the trio's music combines ancient patterns of movement and modern technology. Moreover, the interaction between the three players is enriched by the use of samplers and playbacks of original sounds recorded in faraway and exotic places.
ARCHAIC POP STUFF was founded in early 2000.
In 2001, the collaboration with writer/poet Ralf Thenior from Dortmund began; it led to the publication of Audio Book CD 24 Stunden auf dem Mekong ("24 Hours on the Mekong River") in 2003 (www.pendragon.de).
Besides, the trio is involved in productions of the spoken word/live music formation
DIE KULTURTECHNIKER and performed for instance at the Audio Book Gala Night of radio station WDR5.
For special occasions and events, ARCHAIC POP STUFF may be booked with dancers Rita Panesar (Indian Dance), Susanne Karow (Afro & Jazz Dance), Christina Bauer (New Dance, performance).
